I recently created the mini series “Underwater.” This series spins off of a piece from “The Conception and Sensation of Time”- Don’t Drift Away. I created 2 more pieces to go with this piece- Fish and Coral.
The coral is the stronghold- a living being who knows its place in the world and holds onto it. The fish is lost without its school. The mermaid dares to stand alone but fears losing herself and who she is in the ever moving current. The series represents carving your own path in the world and the fear (the darkness of the surrounding sea) that can hold you back. The orange- shared between the 3 images is a common thread- we all share similar struggles yet are at different parts of our lives. The small hints of light bring hope through the fear.
I just submitted this series to this year’s Local Exposure show. Fingers crossed.
