Mushrooms

“The way to get over creative block is to simply place some constraints on yourself. It seems contradictory, but when it comes to creative work, limitations mean freedom.” – Austin Kleon

Mushrooms

I’ve been really off my game lately. Sick, super tired, etc. etc. I was already in a photo funk, then add all that and I had no motivation (you can probably tell by the lack of pictures I’ve posted recently). In any case, I finally found the will (and energy) to work last night. And here’s the result – an image of some miniature clay mushrooms (the tallest is about 2 cm in height).

  1. Reminds me of the poet Richard Wilbur, who wrote, “Limitation makes for power; the strength of the genie comes from his being confined in the bottle.” Beautiful photos.

  2. Sometimes all creative drives need to take a break. Don’t sweat it.Over the years I have found that even when I’m not actively creating anything, my brain is still absorbing ideas and inspiration. Sometimes you just need to ruminate on all that is inside the head and heart and the worst thing you can do is to force creativity and/or beat yourself up for it. If you are sick maybe its not only your body telling you you need a break but your brain needs a break, too. Be gentle with yourself. A gift given by Spirit is never taken back. Your creative drive will be there when you are ready. <3 <3
