[In response to PhotoRehab Cover Makeover 9]
Ah 1984. I’ve read this one a couple of times. While not my favorite novel, I do love anything Utopian/Dystopian society related, so this one still grabs my attention.
“The year 1984 has come and gone, but George Orwell’s prophetic, nightmarish vision in 1949 of the world we were becoming is timelier than ever. 1984 is still the great modern classic of “negative utopia” -a startlingly original and haunting novel that creates an imaginary world that is completely convincing, from the first sentence to the last four words. No one can deny the novel’s hold on the imaginations of whole generations, or the power of its admonitions -a power that seems to grow, not lessen, with the passage of time.” – Goodreads
I used this image and overlayed the repeated phrase “War is Peace. Freedom is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength.” Then I also added the title and author.
I struggled with this cover. I wanted something futuristic, yet simplistic, and I wanted to get this submitted by the deadline. Hopefully in the near future my ideas will come together a tad better and I can revisit this title.
I really love these covers:

I love that book. “Freedom is Slavery”. Definitely. Here I’m sitting at my pointless job, slaving for the banks and the money system, while being “free”.
Ah, I can definitely relate with you there.
A really cool post … what lovely covers indeed!
Thank you :)
It’s I who thank you!
:)
This is great Jennifer. You’ve definitely brought a futuristic design to your cover. I would never have thought of doing something like that. Love it!
:D thank you
The cover is beautiful. I love the typography! Don’t change a thing!!
Thank you so very much.
I think you have been tough on yourself. I’d buy this book cover anytime. It is beautiful, sophisticated and powerful.
Thank you so much! That’s good to hear. I tend to be a tad harsh on myself when it comes to anything I design.
You’re most welcome, Jennifer. You really should believe me. You always do outstanding covers and photos. I’m a fan!
:)
This cover looks awesome!
Thank you!
