Edward Hopper inspired pieces for the Weekly Photo Challenge: Life Imitates Art.
Much of my art draws inspiration from Edward Hopper. He’s my favorite artist. Occasionally I say I’m inspired by film noir, but even there Hopper greatly influence the industry and therefore my influence can often come back to him. My most recent series ‘Headlights’ partially inspired by the Netflix documentary series Making a Murderer was also inspired by film noir, and from the scenes in episode one and my series you can see Hopper-esque views.

Who’s your favorite artist? What inspires your art?
Well Jen – now I can see the influence Holler has on all of your work and I think I will go back and link your blog in both of my earlier posts on him! Now it is like “duh! How could I have not done it originally” – guess I am thinking crayola right now And just in crayon color mode as the chalk eye circulates! And seriously it has me thinking “colors” especially as “now at home” blogger gives fun tidbits on the history of most colors – you have another cool challenge with that crayon one!
Anyhow – it also seems that the wpc theme “life as art” is right up your alley too! Ha! And this post highlighting the Hopper inspiring is so cool!!!
Is that you on the porch?
Just kidding!
But like I said – now I get it much more! Your use of light and dark and just the whole glimpse into a moment in time you give us – 💛💛💛💛💚
Thank you so much. No need to do that but I really appreciate it. I don’t expect anyone to necessarily notice, I even sometimes forget. He’s such a wonderful artist though.
well you know, I also think we actually mentioned this before in a sharing – I was remembering it earlier today – but you know how sometimes these little things get pushed way back (and the older we get well – um, ha!) – xoxo <3
but I have said this before and will say it again – keep doing what you do because it is so original and the world needs more of it. – have a nice day
Oh gosh I more than know. No worries whatsoever. We need to have some of those longer convos here soon. Better call Saul is back tomorrow…
I know and even tho I ripped in it pretty bad – I am watching – but if it is annoying this season I will find something better to do with my time – hoping for the best! Let’s check in about ❤️- ok!
Excellent! I was hoping you’d create some of these! The first one is great, very creative!
:) Thank you!
Smart and smooth response to the challenge. Love this post!
Thank you so so much.
I’m not an artist, but Hopper is fabulous. My favorite is Salvador Dali. Being into photography, my primary influence would be Ansel Adams, especially when I break out my medium format camera. Great pics for this topic! 😃
Ansel Adams is wonderful. I do really love his work. And I like Salvador Dali as well. Wouldn’t you love a look inside his mind?
Absolutely! 😃
I love Edward Hopper for his evocative emotions – and I love your art for the very same reason. But my true favorite is Maxfield Parrish for the lush, saturated color of his paintings. If I could have anything in the world – cost and availability no object it would be one of his nymph paintings. http://parrish.artpassions.net/
Oh those are so gorgeous. And thank you so much for your kind words about my art.
