The best source for getting started on mini building projects is Mini Materials. Here you can purchase pre-cut wood, various miniature scale cinder blocks, mortar and hand tools.

For a short paintbrush, simply get a flat bristled brush and remove the handle, keeping only the metal portion and bristles.

To hold your paint or stain all you need is a tiny container of any variety. For something resealable, grab a slime bucket and paint it silver.

Paint some 1/4″ wide piping, or a flexible straw, green and pump some water through it for a hose.

Now for the stuff that you’re most likely here for. The stuff that’s hard to find. Well, I’ve learned since discovering Lucky Penny Shop and vintage working ovens for kids, if it’s small, seemingly impossible to find, and actually works, it’s probably a terribly unsafe toy produced for kids in the 50s, 60s or 70s.

-Clamps, happer, screwdriver, sander, drill, power saw, etc.

It appears eHow added new sandpaper and replaced the drill bit on these tools. If you look closely, in eHow’s videos at the top of this post, while yes, the sander and drill have moving parts, they’re not actually sanding or drilling much at all. Good for show, but not super practical.
