Working Miniature Tools

The next stop in mini madness – working mini tools.

At this point you’ve all seen the real mini cooking videos. But, have you seen the mini wood working ones?

Check out this playlist by eHow:

Learn a little bit about the supplies they used here, or simply scroll down for my research and suggestions into this mini universe.

The best source for getting started on mini building projects is Mini Materials. Here you can purchase pre-cut wood, various miniature scale cinder blocks, mortar and hand tools.

Mini Hand Tools by Mini Materials $8.99

A few more of the supplies you’ll see in the videos are easy to find. They’re objects made small, without ever a real intention to be used in a mini universe.

Mini Steel Tape Measure Keychain $4.99

TEKTON 23001 4-Inch Adjustable Wrench $12.27

Gentlemen’s Hardware Multi-Tool $19.00

For mini bolts, screws and screwdrivers pick up a glasses repair kit or tech deck toy.

Universal Souvenir Glasses and Sunglasses Repair Kit, Black $6.59

Tech Deck Parts $15

For a short paintbrush, simply get a flat bristled brush and remove the handle, keeping only the metal portion and bristles.

Royal Brush Crafter’s Choice Gold Taklon Wash Brush, 3/4-Inch $5.22

To hold your paint or stain all you need is a tiny container of any variety. For something resealable, grab a slime bucket and paint it silver.

Leegor Novel Prank Toys Paint Bucket $2.58

Paint some 1/4″ wide piping, or a flexible straw, green and pump some water through it for a hose.

Watts SVGE20 Pre-Cut 3/8-Inch Diameter by 1/4-Inch Clear Vinyl Tubing, 20-Foot Length $11.87

Now for the stuff that you’re most likely here for. The stuff that’s hard to find. Well, I’ve learned since discovering Lucky Penny Shop and vintage working ovens for kids, if it’s small, seemingly impossible to find, and actually works, it’s probably a terribly unsafe toy produced for kids in the 50s, 60s or 70s.

1969 Ideal Toys Mini Power Tools

-Clamps, happer, screwdriver, sander, drill, power saw, etc.

It appears eHow added new sandpaper and replaced the drill bit on these tools. If you look closely, in eHow’s videos at the top of this post, while yes, the sander and drill have moving parts, they’re not actually sanding or drilling much at all. Good for show, but not super practical.

Here’s are listings I am finding at the moment, but more may pop up on ebay in time.

Ideal Toys Vintage Orbital Sander Copyright 1969 Antique Power Mite Tools $8.95

(or one for $97.95, do read the fine print on items before purchase -these are not my listings, only one’s I’m linking to for informative purposes)

Vintage 1969 Electric Toy Drill Made in Hong Kong by Ideal Complete CZ3424 1960s $8.86

That’s all I have for you for now. Will you be taking part in the mini making phenomenon?

Have an insight I didn’t include or a question? Let me know in a comment below and I will continue to update the info in this post over time.
