Miniature Marvels at the St. Augustine Art Association

There’s a new miniature show that just opened, and it just so happens to be local to me, and have one of my pieces in it!

I found out about the Miniature Marvels show on Sunday, February 24th and immediately got an idea for it. I’m typically pretty against creating new work for shows, but was passionate about making this particular piece. I’ve never felt I could just print photos small for a miniature based show, and am not a miniaturist per say, so I just don’t enter them. This idea however allowed me to combine actual tangible miniatures with my miniature diorama photography.

The only problem was that pieces had to physically be turned in, no later than 4 pm on Wednesday, February 27th. So with the quickest turn around ever I got to work, making ‘ a miniature gallery of photos of miniatures.’Continue reading “Miniature Marvels at the St. Augustine Art Association”

We’re so excited for our good friends, Amanda and Jennifer. Remember our interview with Amanda Lenhardt about her self-portraits? If you don’t, read it quickly here.

Not only is she an uh-mazing photographer, but she’s pretty darn creative, especially with her big senior project that was featured in the Southlight Gallery, along with many other artists including the talented Jennifer Wells for April’s Artwalk.

Opening Tonight

Tonight is the opening of the UNF photo show at Southlight Gallery!

Lots of things have been happening at SOUTHLIGHT!! PAM ZAMBETTI’s wall is covered with enormous “FULL BLOOMS,” PAUL KARABINIS finished hanging pieces for the UNF ArtSpace show featuring UNF Photography students, TONY WOOD’s “PEARL DIVERS” series is a must-see, and KATHY STARK is exhibiting two large landscape paintings. Many of the artists have rotated works, including Robert Leedy, Garry McElwee, John Bunker, Peter Blunt and Jack Allen!!!
 
Never has the SOUTHLIGHT GALLERY had more ART and AMBIANCE to offer in one opening! Tomorrow’s reception Featuring PAM ZAMBETTI’s Series “FULL BLOOMS”, will also host artworks from 58 members and guests! Including Belton Wall’s 21 Heart paintings; 39 new works in UNF Artspace & SOUTHLIGHT; a shocking installation by Garry McElwee, plus new works by members (Kathy Stark, Paul Ladnier, Robert Leedy, Jack Allen, Tony Wood, Garry McElwee, Michael Dunlap, Jim Draper, Pam Zambetti and more…) For your entertainment Showtime is always at 7 at Southlight.
