Color your World – 120 Days of Crayola 2017 (year 2)

cyw 2017 badge

Year number 2 is here and you all have spoken – this year we will keep the same format as last year 120 days, 120 colors. 1 color each day for 4 months.

Capture

Color your world is a 4 month long daily blogging challenge event. Each day has a new color theme based on a crayon color in Crayola’s box of 120 crayons. The challenge runs January 1, 2017 to April 29, 2017.

View all color prompts below, or follow along daily as I post a blog per color.

Your contribution can come in any form – art, poetry, flash fiction, a tale of a miscellaneous memory – anything, the only caveat – it has to be inspired by the color of the day. You can join in every single day or simply post at your leisure.

Comment back on the daily prompt post with a link to your contribution and tag your post #coloyyourworld and #cyw so that other participants can see what you’ve come up with. Be sure to follow #coloryourworld and #cyw in your reader as well if you’re a WordPress user.

Fill in your blog title and url here to have your name added to the 2017 participant list below.

View all challenge prompts as they post here.

My Gift to You

Gallery 725 is putting on a great fundraising event, “My Gift to You,” February 21st with a champagne reception at 6:30 followed by the event from 7:00-9:30.

Local artists and businesses have donated some great pieces to be part of a silent auction and raffle.

This is all to benefit L’Arche Harbor House.

“L’Arche Harbor House is a community with five family-style homes, the Blanchart Community Center and an off-site day program called the Rainbow Workshop.

We believe that by creating an environment where people with intellectual and physical disabilities can share their gifts, we are affecting a positive change in the world. We believe that these shared gifts have the power to transform the lives of those who are open to receiving them. We celebrate the unique value of every person and recognize our need for one another. We resolve to explore and appreciate the diverse cultures and faith practices within L’Arche and to work together toward a more evolved and caring human society.”

Find more information on L’Arche here.

Tickets are $100 and can be purchased here.

Part III: People, Places & Things

I’m going to try mixing up some series here, for those of you who don’t like one or another. I mixed my ideas for the 3 different sections together alphabetically. So here we go, taking us through 2019. Obviously if we all get bored midway through there’s room for flexibility.

The 3 categories that the topics fall into…

People & Creatures
Places & Things
Photo Terms

Be creative! You don’t actually have to share a picture of the literal word, find your own meaning. Maybe for ‘ant’ share an image of an antelope, a piece of fruit ants got into, a story, poem, drawing, etc. about an ant. It only has to make sense to you!

Challenge Topics & Start Dates. Topics run from the Tuesday listed, through the following Monday.

  • Pig – June 10
  • Pillow – 17
  • Place – 24
  • Plant – July 1

Occupy Jacksonville

For a short time I had a tumblr account for my photography. I no longer use it, but it still exists. In 2011 I took a bunch of photos of the Occupy Jacksonville rally at Hemming Park and posted them there. In case you’re interested, I thought I’d share the links here with you.
