Resin & Alcohol Ink Petri Coasters

Hi again!

I have a new youtube video up. I’ve really enjoyed exploring what can be done with resin and have especially developed an affinity for 2 part epoxy resin. In an amazing turn of fate The Epoxy Resin Store reached out to sponsor those videos! So, so many more resin videos are to come. I’m am going to do my best to post a minimum of twice a month. I’d like to ramp that up to once a week, but that’s a far off goal at the moment. Check below the video for a coupon code.

Super cool sponsor for this video – The Epoxy Resin Store! Click the link below and use coupon code TOUR20 for 20% off your order. http://www.theepoxyresinstore.com?aff=11

Open Bezel Resin Earrings for my Wedding

I’m getting married in 2020, and keep seeing items with that in mind. My colors are blue and gold, and shortly after becoming engaged I sew these jewelry charms at the craft store, and knew I had to use them for a resin project. So I got some dried flowers and off I went. Check out the video above and let me know what you think.

Creative Outlets

I originally published this list on toyphotographers.com June 2017. Almost 2 years later I’ve revisited it to try to learn from my own advice.

The first 2 weeks of April I was traveling with work. The end of that first week through the beginning of the next I had the flu. A week after returning, I got a cold that lasted for 2 weeks. (oh, I am no longer vitamin deficient though!) After all that I was exhausted, with little will to work on anything creative. (I have advanced pretty far in a couple of mobile games though!) And for better or for worse, when I’m not making things, I don’t feel productive, and I beat myself up about it. Normally, I try to find outlets outside of my main toy photography shtick – blogging for example, or youtube videos. But towards the end of my cold I tried to blog and my brain just couldn’t form the right words.

Booksmart

On Wednesday I got to go to a free pre-screening of the movie Booksmart through gofobo. It was great!

To be honest, I never have huge expectations when I go to pre-screenings. But you get free movie tickets you go, there’s no other option. And through that mindset I’ve discovered my love for The Heat, A Dog’s Purpose, Florence Foster Jenkins, among others. And have gotten numerous opportunities for after movie parking lot heart to hearts with my similarly movie minded friend (i.e. the whole you get free tickets you go mindset).

Miniatures and Control

Over the course of multiple years, I wondered why we all love miniatures so much, why I was so enthralled by their magic. And throughout this time I read Susan Stewart’s ‘On Longing’ and a reactionary blog series to that book. And I fell somewhere in between. So I continued to pull information from all sources I could find pertaining to this topic and the above video and below transcript are the result. And finally I felt and still feel like the urge to pursue this topic has left me, the voracious inquiry is no longer, but hopefully this will help you in yours.

Resin Beehive Necklace

I’ve finally returned to posting on Youtube. My first video back, is one I’ve been wanting to try for some time.

I have this silicone trivet for the kitchen with a behive pattern in it. – silicone, behive, I think that calls for a makeshift resin mold for a bee themed accessory.

So with that I took some 2 part epoxy resin, mixed in chunky glitter and alcohol ink, and poured it onto the trivet. After it cured I added a chain and bee charm and am really happy with the result.
