I was scrolling through tumblr and I found this (click the screen shot to see the original posting by tumblr user duskenpath).
It reminded me of an experience I had a few months ago.
I was driving on I-10 West from Jacksonville to Pensacola, Florida. I stopped at a rest stop around exit 233. While in the stall I heard a banging sound, like someone was pounding on the door. Then I heard a faint “Please, someone help me.” I was horrified, it was so real, but unreachable. I couldn’t quite tell where it was coming from. I came out and placed my ear near the storage door. Nothing. I said “hello?” Nothing. I washed my hands and walked out, looking around for someone who could help. I saw a maintenance man and frantically told him that I think I heard someone in there calling for help. He gave me the strangest look and just nodded, saying “I’ll look” or something of the sort. I called my mom and told her, wondering if I should call the police. She said I told the worker and that if there was anything it would be fine. I left, feeling so guilty. For days I looked up the rest stop to see if there was any news on it – a dead body found or something. Nothing. I’m still not entirely sure I heard what I think I did. It was so faint. Maybe it was just in my head?
In any case, I decided to make a creepy rest stop bathroom picture.
Nice photo. I would still be worried about what I heard too.
Thank you.
It is always hard to walk away. But you did tell someone. Great photo. :D
Thanks. I just had no idea how to handle the situation. I honestly do hope it was all in my head.
I’m home alone while reading your story. Goosebumps! Your bathroom is creepy but beautiful.
I’m sorry :/
and thank you
I’m okay, don’t apologize :) I can relate, we have experienced a lot of those in Asia.
really? like what?
Wandering spirits, Jen. They’re everywhere. We sometimes hear door knocks, voices, foot stomps in different houses as we lived in different countries 😊
That’s enough to make you never use a public bathroom again!
I know. The next few times I drove to Pensacola I actively avoided that particular rest stop.
What a story! I can understand your feelings in the next days. Love the colors in your photo.

Thank you so much! And yea, I still feel a little weird about it…
