A force that’s taking it day by day and making it work all the same.

I started my day with a bowl of cereal, coffee and a quiz on public health emergency management.

I couldn’t find my SD card reader, so instead, I started the annoying process of connecting my camera to my computer over wifi and began transferring images. I wanted to go through and edit pictures from the fair from a couple weeks ago and the public health initiation ceremony a week and a half ago. The image transfer was taking quite some time, so I hopped in the shower and dressed for the day. Checked on the image transfer when I got out, and it had disconnected pretty soon in the process, started it again, stopped again, and again, and it seemed more successful. We had to get going though for lunch with James’ parents and brother to celebrate his dad’s birthday. I left my laptop and camera paired, and we headed out.

We met at his parents’ house then drove over to Island Wing Company. Lunch was lovely. Then back to the house for cake and candles.

Back home this evening, and my camera had died at some point in the process. I’ll get the images on my computer eventually, I really should just find my SD card reader. If not sooner, I imagine I’ll come across it as I begin to pack for the apartment move. I think I even have another computer card reader somewhere and one for my phone. Moving a couple of months ago and knowing another move was going to happen soon means I just never really got fully unpacked. Eh one day at a time.

I plugged in my camera batteries and kind of napped on the couch while waiting on a text for a scheduled meeting to begin. The plan was to work with my group member over Zoom on our project this evening but that got rescheduled to some point tomorrow. I think we’ll be able to get it done plenty well enough for the assignment, but may have to add to or rework some things as it comes to the full actual evaluation with the program, and potentially published research pieces, as is the current/full post-course assignment aim from our initial conversations with the program manager.

Tomorrow is also, well, Monday, so back into work with some check requisitions, travel requests, course scheduling, etc. on the docket. I work for a department in the college of health at my university. After work, I’ll be meeting with a fellow member of the AJPH Student Think Tank to seal up a few extra things for a project releasing soon.

I received an update from my professor today on further plans for the grant proposal and research that I’m currently involved with. I’m excited for the possibilities as I’m on the cusp of having my name on an academic published article but it hasn’t come to fruition just yet. That, and the research if this specific professor overlaps my research interest to some degree. My goal for applying to a PhD program was to have at least one publication beforehand, but as the application time frame is likely near, I may have to apply without having met that goal. Which all in all is probably fine. But then, I know very little about getting into PhD programs.

I am a force. A force that’s still always tired. A force that still hasn’t washed or cleaned out her car. A force that never fully unpacked. But, a force that’s taking it day by day and making it work all the same.
