A force that wants to have time to hang out with friends again.

Today, I woke up feeling great! That’s so rare for me. We got ready and off we went. James and I had an appointment to tour an apartment at 11:00 and decided to scope a couple of others out along the way. Remember the apartment my doctor recommended to me yesterday? Well, it was one of the ones we decided to passively check out. Instead, we hopped out of the car and went into the front office. We had a tiny bit of time to kill. Before even walking into the first unit for a tour, I turned my head to James and said, “This is it. I’ve decided.” He quickly was on board as well. We decided the scheduled tour wasn’t necessary at the other complex and applied and signed a lease! There will be a few weeks overlap with the current lease, which I don’t love, but I will be overjoyed to be in a new place with an outdoor area for my plants, and for Wolf to enjoy, and a much quicker commute to work, among other things of course.

So the apartment portion of the day took much longer than planned. By the end of it, my energy from the morning had passed, and it had fully set in that I’d forgotten to take my prescriptions. I now had an incoming migraine and was very very hungry. I had only had a donut and Vitamin Water for breakfast. I don’t regret that, but it hadn’t sustained me for a 2:30 lunch. A stop at Wawa was in order as we rushed over to Target for my eye appointment.

No change in my vision! Also a rarity. But my vision is terrible as is, and I’m very much thankful for its no matter how temporary pause on worsening.

Back home, we went reveling in the success of the day. But my eyes had been dilated, and the dilation migraine I always get from the medicine came on. Once home, I napped for an hour or so, then we went to the newly built Texas Roadhouse for an appetizer based dinner. Jokes on us, as it seems everyone else also had Texas Roadhouse in mind. Instead, we searched Google Maps to learn that just about everything around us was closing in an hour. We picked up pizza and headed for home instead.

Pizza consumed, friend talked to on the phone, and back to researching and writing. I finished my draft for a research project with my professor and emailed it on! My comparison paper on the Japan and US Healthcare systems is underway but has so much left to go. Tomorrow (or really today as it’s almost 3 am), among other things, will be a long conversation with my group partner on our health program evaluation plan. I also have a quiz due. Just telling myself to take it one step at a time. As the assignments get turned in, the semester also comes to a close. There will be at least a hint of freedom in the coming summer months.

Don’t get me wrong, I actually like research and writing, but without so much overlap. I also, of course, prefer it when it’s a subject that interests me, such as the ungraded, additional project I’m working on with my professor.

Don’t let me convince myself otherwise. I am a force. A force that wants to have time to hang out with friends again. Like bowling and vegfest and the other things I was invited to.
