A force that’s figuring things out.

I think I like writing these better little by little throughout the day. It allows me to include pointless little details that I forget by the time I’m ready to crawl into bed at night. We’re only on day 4, however, so we’ll see how this progresses. I think I want to at least make these little daily posts/diaries/reflections through the summer months and decide on whether to continue or not at that point.

Anyway, up, dressed and off to work this morning. James headed out just a few minutes before me. On the way, I began listening to the Radio Lab episode, Small Potatoes. The episode includes discussions on the beauty of the mundane of sorts and it made me think of these posts in this space.

And well that’s all I wrote on yesterday. Lemme try to sum up that day right quick and then move on to today. I wrote all of that when on my lunch break. I sat outside and enjoyed the somewhat nice, not too hot, weather while eating a wrap I’d bought on campus. I ran into some fellow classmates while walking back to my office, and we chatted a bit about assignments. Last night, around 7:30, I Zoomed with my friend/group member, and we finished our final project for our Health Program Evaluation class. We worked on it nonstop until a few minutes past midnight, then off to bed I went.

I began today with a dentist appointment. I booked it last week as an emergency appointment because otherwise I couldn’t be seen until July. I thought my filling had fallen out, but instead, it turns out that my tooth just didn’t like the filling. Well, it’s a bit more than that, but onto my very first crown in 2 and a half weeks.

Next, I ordered Tropical Smoothie, a peanut butter, chocolate, banana smoothie, snickerdoodle cookie, and an egg, feta, pesto wrap. When given the choice between snicker doodle and chocolate chip, I always choose the latter, I just find snicker doodle somewhat boring, but today, the thought of it sounded so good. I also have been avoiding eggs for some time now as they’ve been making me feel sick, and yet today, those also sounded great.

Ate a bit in my car, continued on the cookie and smoothie as I drove, and listened to the Hidden Brain podcast. When I got to work I used the bag from tropical smoothie to pack up the trash from my car. Yep, I cleaned out my car! Well, mostly. I walked out of the parking garage, knowing I’d have to open the door of the trash rather than using the flap bit, and yet there it was open, like it was waiting just for me. Into my office I went.

I’ve been getting a tad overwhelmed with the never-ending work responsibilities. Today, I created a 6 part grid with labels as to the typical type of assignments that come through. Sorting my incoming responsibilities by type seemed to help quite a bit, and the layout helped me prioritize more effectively. I haven’t even been full-time in the department for a month yet, so figuring out my workflow is very important to me right now. I feel like I got a lot done today, especially  with only being in the office half of the day. I even had my images transferring from my camera to my laptop as I worked, and all of the images finally transferred. I even imported them onto Lightroom! I’ll edit them soon enough.

After work, I went to check on my parents’ cat. She loves my mom but is skeptical of basically everyone else. She’s very cute, though.

Next up, a quick Publix run for subs for dinner and a couple snack items.

Finally, home, dinner, an episode and a half of Samari Jack with James, then an hour on Zoom with my group members for another course, finalizing our presentation for tomorrow.

And for the grand finale, folding and putting away laundry with James while watching the Mr and Mrs smith Amazon Prime show.

Good night and onto another smooth flowing day tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

I am a force. A force that folds laundry. A force that has tooth decay. A force that’s figuring things out.
