As you know from past posts and my stark absence from this space, I’ve been pulled away from regularly creating for the past 3 plus years.
Honestly, the absence makes getting back into it a bit scary. I feel like I’m not practiced, my thoughts on creating miniature diorama photos are scattered. What do I want to show? What do I want to say? Will I even be any good at it anymore?
I imagine the process will be slower and more labored. But thats not necessarily a bad thing. I’ve always enjoyed the process, the learning, the changing. Taking the time to create as close to what I envisioned as possible.
That said, I’m being easy on myself. Taking it one step at a time and creating things that aren’t just photos.
As I get settled in my new job, and my tiny things are finding their space in my new apartment, I can feel the time and space for creation coming.
In the meantime, James and I went to Sykes Family Farm in Elkton, FL yesterday and I brought along my Sam (from the movie Trick R Treat) figure, and a stuffed gingerbread man so I could take some silly/fun photos of them with the corn, pumpkins and sunflowers. James started noticing how I was positioning Sam’s feet and the trouble i was having balancing him and he began helping find new photo locations for me, holding the figure with his hand out of the way of the photo, and helping place the figure in poses for more natural positioning, especially in places I couldn’t reach as easily. It was a fun activity to have James so actively involved in.

I think you shouldn’t judge yourself, and just create and see what happens. This looks like a good start! Nice photos, especially of the two of you.
October seems to be the perfect time for you to get back into things. Your Halloween challenges are the ones I associate you with most! I’m looking forward to seeing some of your new creations!
