By the Numbers

Last night I created this image. I had it on my ‘to do’ list just since Wednesday and then yesterday a couple opportunities popped up to use it. I submitted it to 2 (sort of 3) hashtag competition on instagram and then looked up the daily post challenges and saw this week’s Discover challenge listing. Fate. Of course I have to share it for the topic “One, Two, Three!” The photo that keeps on giving.

The places I shared it to instagram were hashtags created for the toy photography community. I’ve only recently considered my work toy photography. For some reason, when I thought ‘toys’ I thought children’s playthings. So when I considered train-scale miniatures, mostly collected by adults, I simply considered the word ‘miniature.’ But these things most definitely fit in the toy category. That, and I truly have been working with more traditional toys lately – Pose Skeleton, Pokemon and Five Night’s at Freddy’s action figures. And all the better that I’ve realized this, as there are so many more opportunities that have opened up. For any toy photographers reading this, I truly don’t mean to insult, only to point out that a whole new wonderful world has opened up to me, now that I’ve realized how wide it is.
